Our Commitment to Privacy

Name Wheel is designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe educational tools should help teachers and students without compromising anyone's privacy.

Information We DON'T Collect

Name Wheel does not collect:

• Personal information (names, emails, phone numbers)
• Location data
• Advertising identifiers
• Tracking data, or any data shared with advertisers or data brokers
• The names you add to your wheel groups
• Any data that could identify you or your students

Anonymous Usage Statistics

To understand which features are worth improving, Name Wheel reports anonymous usage statistics through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. This applies to both the apps and the web version at name-wheel.com.

When you spin the wheel, make a match, or generate groups, we record:

• That the action happened, and roughly how many names were on the wheel (as a range such as "11-20", never the actual number of names and never the names themselves)
• Your current settings, such as colour theme, wheel size, sound on or off, and interface language
• Basic technical details: device model or browser, operating system version, screen size, language and region, and app version
• An anonymous identifier that is not your advertising ID and cannot be traced back to you. In the apps it is a random value stored on your device; on the website it is regenerated on every visit, so the site needs no cookies and no consent banner

We never receive the names you enter, your IP address, or your precise location. TelemetryDeck does not store IP addresses, and the data is never linked to your identity, sold, or shared with advertisers or data brokers. On the website we record only the country a visit came from, worked out at our server so your IP address never reaches any third party.

Information Stored on Your Device

Name Wheel stores the following information locally on your device:

• Your groups and the names within them
• App settings and preferences
• Your wheel color theme selection

This data is stored using Apple's secure on-device storage and never leaves your device unless you enable iCloud sync.

iCloud Sync

If you choose to enable iCloud sync:

• Your groups and names sync to your personal iCloud account
• Data syncs only between your own devices
• We cannot access your iCloud data
• Apple's iCloud security and privacy policies apply

Children's Privacy

Name Wheel is designed to be safe for use in educational settings with children of all ages. Since we don't collect any personal information, Name Wheel complies with COPPA and GDPR requirements for children's data.
